Greenstam (/greenstam/ [Translation Unavailable]) is a subtropical Town located in the Quiegsan Region of the Tetbur Commune.

The name Greenstam is derived from the Sylvin language, as Greenstam was founded by Mboīsh Sé̄s 'Hamsy Sasha' Mp̪féch Gō̌sh Yoī̌sh Wright, who was culturaly Sylvin.

Climate

Greenstam has a yearly average temperature of 28°C (82°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a hot 32°C (89°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a pleasant 25°C (77°F). Greenstam receives an average of 266 cm/y (104 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of rain during the summer. Greenstam covers an area of nearly 4 km2 (1 mi2), and an average elevation of 4674 m (15334 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Greenstam was founded durring the late 13th century in spring of the year 1188, by Mboīsh Sé̄s 'Hamsy Sasha' Mp̪féch Gō̌sh Yoī̌sh Wright. The establishment of the new community went well, though many minor issues had to be solved as time went on. This was enough to delay construction and push back the formal opening ceramony, leading to some embarisment for Mboīsh Sé̄s 'Hamsy Sasha' Mp̪féch Gō̌sh Yoī̌sh Wright.

Greenstam was built using the conventions of Sylvin durring the late 13th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Greenstam is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature masoned stone construction which prominantly features pointed arches, pointed ribbed vault cielings, flying buttress', and window tracery all of which share a simmilar gemoetetic patern halfway between organic and inorganic in design formaing a very distinct aesthetically integrated style. BUildings tend to reach for the havens, and more expencive homes are easily identified by their floor count as well as the addition of decorative features intigrated into the building's design such as statues, gargoyals, and embelished joinery.

Greenstam is buildings are arranged arround a network of crampt paverstone streets which form a grid, where each square verries in size given the proximity of the paralell streets forming each section. The ocasional smaller square has been used to construct a park, plaza, and other communal structures. The town is protected by a renforced stone fence which sits atop earthwork defences, for some of the best inexpencive defences a town of Greenstam's size could have. Astonishigly, the well-designed, yet cheep are in pristine condishion, as if they had just been finished before you laied eyes upon them.

A look around Greenstam has something terribly wrong with it. It’s impossible to put one’s finger on, but something is horribly wrong. Maybe it’s the way fog blankets the ground, but only in the connors of places. Maybe it’s the vermin scuttling between shadows in the corner of your eyes. Perhaps it’s the overcast sky which seemed to creep out of nowhere, or the distant howling of wolves. Maybe it’s all of those things together, or perhaps it's the way these elements combine with the simple fact that it is abundantly clear Greenstam suffered something horrible some time ago. It's as if the town itself is depressed. Smiles are few, cheer is nowhere to be had. Everyone quietly goes about their daily business not looking anyone in the eye. Regardless, you do not feel it would be wise to remain in Greenstam long.

Civic Infrastructure

Greenstam has an Office of Civil Vicary, which is responsible for providing a livelyhood for all officialy recognised religious figures within Greenstam.

Greenstam has a Gravedigger's Guild, which is responsible for collecting the dead and laying them to rest according to all applicable laws and religious customs.

Greenstam has a Highwayman's Guild, which is tasked with maintaining the roads and highways leading into town as well as keeping them safe for travelers.

Greenstam has a monistary of an order of Civil Monks, who provide divine-related services to the general public and maintain Greenstam's public wards, blessings, and other arcane systems.

Greenstam possesses a Galvanic Power Grid, which brings galvanic current to most if not all buildings in town, and permits a great many consumer goods to function within the Town. Greenstam's grid is powered by a direct leyline tap.

Greenstam's old civil lighting system was converted to Galvanic Lamps recently, and expanded to provide nighttime illumination to all city streets.

Greenstam has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands.

Greenstam has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Cultural Notes

Greenstam's chapel was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is admittedly strange and non-linear style rooted in defiance of symmetrical shapes. It championed the creation of buildings with a unique visual appearance. the structural norms of classic buildings and deforms or moves away from elementary architectural principles. By including non-linear designs processed into its buildings and favoring fragmentation, this style expressed a form of controlled chaos. Its buildings appear out-of-the-ordinary, draw the eye in immediately and sometimes create a feeling of strangeness. These distorted shapes and structure are not reserved to the building’s outer facade, they destabilize interior elements too, favoring minimalism and play on people’s perceptions by injecting a futuristic touch.

In Greenstam all of the cats speak the local language with prefect diction.

The Plant-Imbued Ape near Greenstam are known to be almost tame, such that they can be put to domestic use.

Greenstam's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in spring and involves drinking to channel Truename Magic energies of tier 1 via moments of science.

Greenstam is cursed with recurrent spells of some troublesome disease. The affliction isn’t so fatal as to make living there impossible, but it adds suffering and expense to local lives. The plague might be the product of an ancient curse, the results of long lost toxic remains, or an unavoidable byproduct of whatever industry or purpose justifies the city. It’s probably not overly contagious, but visitors may be in some peril all the same.
